Naples Snoring/Sleep Apnea
Is snoring keeping you up at night? There’s a simple, comfortable solution: a mandibular advancement device worn nightly to open the airway. Our dentists, Dr. Robert Bracho and Dr. Matthew Keller, hold postgraduate education in sleep apnea treatment and offer two brands of appliances for your comfort and convenience.
What is the Main Reason for Snoring?
Snoring is essentially caused by the relaxation of the muscles and soft tissues in the throat. When they relax, the breathing passage shrinks, forcing air to come through more quickly. This faster-moving air causes the tissues in the throat to vibrate, and snoring is the sound of those vibrations.
Can Snoring be Cured?
Snoring, along with mild and moderate sleep apnea, is effectively treated with a mandibular advancement device. This simple treatment involves wearing a comfortable oral appliance nightly. The device works by moving the lower jaw forward, which opens the airway, promoting healthy breathing and eliminating the cause of snoring. At Naples General & Cosmetic Dentistry, we offer two brands of mandibular advancement devices, SomnoDent and Panthera.
SomnoDent
Manufactured by SomnoMed, SomnoDent is a device made of dental acrylic. Its built-in screw mechanism allows you to adjust the jaw position to obtain your desired comfort and best results.

Snoring/Sleep Apnea Treatment: Our Process
Before beginning our treatment process, Dr. Bracho or Dr. Keller will review your current sleep study. If you haven’t had one in the last 3 years, we’ll connect you with a physician who can help you obtain one. Our next step is a comprehensive dental exam, during which we’ll take digital scans, which we’ll send to the manufacturer of your device. When your device is ready, Dr. Bracho or Dr. Keller will fine-tune its positioning for you and show you how to use it so you can begin sleeping and breathing better!
Both of our doctors have received postgraduate training in sleep apnea treatment. Dr. Bracho studied with the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and Dr. Keller with CharkEducation.
