Are Premium Home Whitening Kits Safe?

I received a coupon for a premium home whitening kit. Do you know if this is a safe option? My dentist costs about $100 more than this kit.

I looked this kit over. It does have a valid whitening ingredient.It has the same ingredient that dentists would you, though not quite as strong.

The thing that is going to be a problem for you is that the tray they provide will not be custom fitted to your bite. This creates a two-fold problem for you. First, You are going to have some of that gel leak out. This means you are getting even less of the whitening.

Plus, the gel can get onto the soft tissues in your mouth, including your gums. There have been cases where people ended up needing a root canal treatment because a DIY home whitening treatment gel got onto their gums and irritated an already vulnerable area.

Second, in addition to having some of your whitening gel come out, you will also have some of your saliva getting into the trays. This dilutes the gel that is still there, making the gel even less effective.

Bottom line, you will need a lot of whitening kits to equal what you get from your dentist in a much shorter period of time. In the long run you will be paying a lot more money for the kits than you would just by going to the dentist and getting it done professionally. I recommend asking your dentist if he or she will allow you to pay it out. If not, you can save up and get the good stuff.
